Shade Grown
Our tea plants are shaded for 20+ days before harvest, increasing chlorophyll and L-theanine for a richer, sweeter flavor.

The Profound Beauty of Tea
Experience the essence of Japanese tea culture with our stone-ground ceremonial matcha, carefully cultivated in the misty hills of Uji, Kyoto.
Yūgen (幽玄) is a Japanese aesthetic concept describing the profound, mysterious sense of beauty found in the depth of the universe and all things within it — a beauty that cannot be expressed in words.
Our matcha embodies this philosophy. Cultivated in the misty hills of Uji, Kyoto — the birthplace of Japanese tea culture — each leaf is carefully shade-grown for 20 days before harvest, developing the characteristic umami richness and vibrant emerald color that defines ceremonial grade matcha.
We work directly with fourth-generation tea farmers who have perfected their craft over centuries, using traditional stone-grinding techniques that preserve the delicate flavor compounds and nutrients. The result is a matcha of extraordinary depth and complexity.

Traditional granite stone mills grind the leaves slowly over 1 hour, preserving delicate flavors and nutrients.
The highest quality matcha, made from the first harvest spring leaves (ichibancha) for peak flavor and nutrition.
"I've tried many matcha brands, but Yūgen is truly special. The depth of flavor and that beautiful, creamy foam when whisked — it's transformed my morning ritual."
"As someone who lived in Japan for years, finding authentic ceremonial grade matcha abroad was difficult. Yūgen is the real deal — the color, aroma, and taste transport me back to Kyoto."
"My daily matcha latte has never been better. The quality difference compared to other brands is immediately noticeable. Worth every penny!"
Ceremonial grade is the highest quality matcha, made from the youngest, most tender tea leaves from the first spring harvest. It's meant to be enjoyed on its own with just water, and has a smooth, sweet flavor without bitterness.
Sift 1-2g of matcha into a bowl. Add 2oz of hot water (175°F/80°C). Whisk vigorously with a bamboo chasen in an M or W motion until frothy. For a latte, add your favorite milk after whisking.
Keep your matcha in an airtight container away from light, heat, and humidity. For best freshness, store in the refrigerator after opening and consume within 4-6 weeks.
